I have been a psychotherapist for 20 years, during my career I have most often worked with teens and adults dealing with low mood or elevated stress who want to improve personal relationships, create a conscious transition or navigate grief. These symptoms are most often alleviated through a combination of insight into the issue, disciplined thoughts, realistic expectations, some type of physical movement and a reasonably healthy diet. A stable healing process is enhanced by a holistic approach.
If you are suffering from a strained relationship with a central person in your life a family member, friend, or co-worker, I may be able to bring an objective perspective to the nature of the discord. The healing of any relationship begins with an honest assessment of our own behavior as well as the quality of our personal boundaries and our ability to communicate with honesty and loving kindness. In an effort to heal a relationship, it is not uncommon to enhance our personal authenticity, thereby enhancing how we relate to self and others. I am an experienced guide to an integrated life.
Transitions can be the best of times and the worst of times, a mixture of euphoria and sorrow. Changes are ripe with potential and the opportunity to craft the existence that expresses our greatest selves. It’s unfortunate, and very human to beat ourselves up for the discomfort that results from the courage of our actions or the natural ebb and flow of life. Getting clear on what we can influence and what we must learn to accept lightens mood and diminishes anxiety. I can help you identify ways to navigate the changing tides.
Grief is an inevitable part of life, an experience shared by all. We typically associate grief with the loss of a loved one, but any large transition can lead to mourning, including the shock associated with moving to a new culture. Grievers often feel alone and abandoned. Sometimes grief can be minimized if one feels deeply heard and reassured that their angst is normal and survivable, one day at a time. I was once a hospice counselor and have experience with the terminally ill and their loved ones. I have also experienced the profound loss of missing my former life when moving to San Miguel. I will honor your feelings and support you as you heal the absence of a person or life circumstance that was a central part of your life, and perhaps, your identity.
I have over 20 years of experience working with people seeking a happier and more fulfilling life. If you are reading this it is likely that you are suffering, stuck or in need of some redirection. Please contact me. We can schedule a meeting so we can determine if we are a good match for a therapeutic relationship. Thank you for your time and consideration.
